Shanavia Portis is a vessel for the Kingdom who allows the Lord to use her and all her giftings within the Kingdom and the world. Her goal is to reach the ones who has been assigned to her. She does this as an experienced educator, wellness coach, and marriage coach. Driven by pursuit, she remains to be passionate about what she does and takes pride in providing the best education, care, and support possible. Shanavia holds her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Tuskegee University and her Master of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University in Human Nutrition.

Shanavia has served in public education for 6 years within the Humble ISD school district. She spent two of those years as a paraprofessional and 4 years as a certified teacher. During this time, she created some innovative and unique learning opportunities for her elementary students. Shanavia exudes passion and excitement when she teaches. She spontaneously creates challenges that pushes the learner to develop new insight and formulate new wonderings. This invites students with various learning
needs to accept where they are and grow from there in confidence. Shanavia is also a wellness coach where she uses her nutrition knowledge, personal story, and coaching skills to educate, inspire, and equip women who are searching for someone to partner with them on a journey, to just eat better, lose weight, and or feel good. She believes that everyone’s journey is different and unique, so just DO you.

 

In 2016, Shanavia was given a vision for business, which is her ministry, called Embrace I AM, LLC. At Embrace I AM, she helps women and teen girls to become their best self through their spirit, soul, and body by embracing themselves. Shanavia has been married to the love of her life, Stephen Portis for 20 years. Together they serve in ministry and are marriage coaches. Their aim
is to help marriages thrive by exposing blind spots, equipping them with tools to use that will enhance communication, produce boundaries, and strengthen their relationship. They believe that marriage works if you work it. They are also the executive producers and hosts of their own talk show, The Eden Experience. They have 3 beautiful daughters, Stasie (19), Sierra
(15), and Saniah (12).
